Wow. We just spent Saturday to Wednesday in Paris (really only four days). It was incredible, and made even more incredible by our fabulous hosts’ Gary and Peggy (thank you!)

Paris is HUGE and possibly full of more gorgeous monuments, museums, and picturesque night scenes than anywhere else in Europe. We had a lot of trouble deciding where to go and what to see, but we managed to fit a lot in at the same time.

To keep it short I’m just going to mention all the delicious things we ate while we were there. I will start with a staple of delicious french food, the baguette. Every morning we’d wake, walk down to the boulangerie and buy croissants, baguettes, pain au chocolat and an array of other tasty pasteries. We’d share these with our gracious hosts with a cup of a tea.

We usually packed our lunch (more baguette and cheese we purchased Amsterdam) and returned home (Gary and Peggy’s) for supper. One night we had wine and pizza, which might sound good but was actually extraordinary. Instead of one pizza, there were five… and they came every 20 minutes (or however long inbetween the times Gary would make them). Something about drinking wine, talking, and eating pizza slowly over two hours is incredible.

The night before we left we had another amazing feast! An Alsacian dish piled high with sausages, potatoes, and loads of saurkraut topped off with some sinus-clearing Dijon mustard followed by German white wine. It was so delicious!

Don’t worry though, we have not grown any fatter for all our bread and cheese eating, we walk for hours upon hours everyday and we figure it’s all got to even out in the end, right?

Thanks again to Gary and Peggy!! and now we are staying cozily in Switzerland with Catherine’s Aunt’s Joan and Mary. They’ve been so helpful planning the next leg of our trip (Southern France and Italy) and the rest of our stay in Switzerland! More in a few days.

Love!
